The area draws many visitors. It is home to land speed racing events at Bonneville Speedway, just east of town; the historic Wendover Airport where the Enola Gay Hangar and plane from Con Air reside; Wendover Will, who was certified by Guinness as the World’s largest mechanical cowboy; and Toana Vista Golf Club, which hosts the Utah Section PGA Championship and Utah Senior Open every year.
Though mostly tourist focused in the past, West Wendover is fast becoming a great choice for a place to live. In this age of telecommuting, entrepreneurs find they can benefit from the enormous business potential and client base of the Salt Lake City Area while enjoying the tax benefits of living in Nevada. Newmont’s Long Canyon (gold) Mine, located just 29 miles from West Wendover, will also provide many high-paying jobs and contribute to the town’s growth. Add an agreeable climate with lots of sunshine and many outdoor recreational opportunities to the economic outlook and you will see that West Wendover could be a great choice for your future home.
